What a report is for
Exam Diagnostics ZA is a South African service that marks a full Grade 10–12 mock exam paper mark by mark and reports every lost mark, with a strategy report and a video walkthrough, within 24 hours. A school report tells you the mark. This report tells you where the mark went, which is a different and more useful thing, because only one of those two can be acted on before the next paper.
The eight pages
The report is built to be read in order. It opens with the mark and the mark in reach, sorts every lost mark into one of five reasons, then narrows to the marks that were recoverable, question by question, and finally to the concepts behind them.
The sample report, page by page.

What it shows
1. Cover
The pupil, the paper, the date it was written.
2. The mark, and the mark in reach
The mark as it stands, and the mark without the mistakes that had nothing to do with knowing the work: 46% and 72%.
3. Why the marks were lost
Every lost mark sorted into one of the five reasons, as a single chart.
4. 26% recoverable
The share of the paper that was lost with the right method behind it.
5. Recoverable marks by question
Question by question: which recoverable marks were in which question.
6. Recoverable marks, continued
The rest of the questions, in the same form.
7. Concepts behind the losses
The concepts sitting behind the losses, so the next study session has a target.
8. Concepts, continued
The remaining concepts, and what to fix first.
The five reasons
Every mark that left the paper is given one reason. Two of the five mean the method was right and the mark was already in reach; the other three point at something that has to be taught. That split is the whole point of the report.
Every lost mark is sorted into one of five reasons.
Reason
What it means
Recoverable?
Wrong method
The route chosen could not reach the answer.
No — this is a gap to teach
Accuracy
The method was right; the arithmetic slipped.
Yes — the method was right
Not written down
The working stopped before the mark was earned.
Yes — the method was right
Misread
A value or instruction was taken off the paper wrongly.
No — this is a gap to teach
Didn’t remember
A formula or definition was not recalled in the moment.
No — this is a gap to teach
In the sample, 39 of the 81 lost marks fell into the two recoverable reasons. That is what turns 46% into a 72% that was already there. Why that matters is worked through in why your child loses marks in exams .
The video walkthrough
A report full of charts is easy to misread, so every report comes with a video that walks through it and says what to fix first. It arrives with the report, by email and WhatsApp, within 24 hours of the paper being sent in.
What this report does not claim
It is one paper written by one pupil. It is not an average, not a prediction, and not a promise about what any other child would score. What it shows is the method: every mark accounted for, and the recoverable ones separated from the rest.
The same method is applied to whichever subject and grade you order. The case study takes this exact paper apart in full.
Questions about the report
What is in the report?
The mark and the mark in reach, why each mark was lost, recoverable marks by question, the concepts behind the losses, and a video walkthrough explaining what to fix first.
How soon does it arrive?
Marks within 1 hour of the paper being sent in, and the full report within 24 hours, by email and WhatsApp.
Can a tutor use it?
Yes. The report is written to be handed to somebody else, and where the gaps are knowledge rather than exam technique we recommend tutors who work from it.
Is the sample a real paper?
Yes. It is one real Grade 12 Mathematics Paper 1, with the pupil’s details removed. Nothing in it is illustrative.
